Brief Description:
In 2008/09 the fund is looking to support community and voluntary organisations helping with financial education and sport in the community.
More Information:
Derbyshire Community Foundation and the Derbyshire Building Society have been working in partnership since 2004. The set up of the Derbyshire Building Society Fund is part of the Society’s wider ongoing commitment to support and improve life within our county.
We are actively seeking applications which cover the following kinds of projects.
- Environmental Projects : Encouraging projects that regenerate community spaces and promote recylcing, including community allotment projects, furniture projects and scrap stores. Projects that are looking to create energy saving solutions, will also be welcome.
- Sport in the Community: Particularly if linked to improving health & encouraging the uptake of sports in disadvantaged areas or encouraging people to overcome physical or mental barriers to sport / exercise.
The Fund is also keen to consider projects supporting older people and projects operating in areas of high disadvantage.
Type of Project costs funded:
- Capital (any items of equipment) but not building works
- Revenue (any non-equipment costs) but only for projects the fund is unlikely to cover your groups general ongoing /running costs
- One off events and one-off projects
- The Fund is looking to cover the majority of the costs for the project and will not contribute towards large scale funding bids.

The maximum grant is currently £1,000
Closing Dates:
There are no fixed closing dates. The decision making panel meet twice per year.
Examples of grants made:
£1,000 to expand and develop a cheerleading club, to engage girls in a fun activity, which promotes healthy exercise and team work.
£1,000 to offer extra opportunities to an angling club working with disabled individuals across Derbyshire.
