Fund Name: Southern Derbyshire Learning Fund
Before progressing with an application for this fund it is important to read the booklet:
Success - How to apply to Derbyshire Community Foundation
(click above to open as PDF file in new window)
Then carefully read the fund criteria set below.
We would also advise contacting the grants team to discuss your project ideas before applying. Particularly as this is a limited fund and we anticipate that only 4 - 8 grants will be made per year.
Brief Description:
The Fund was designed to support community and voluntary groups offering opportunities for people to gain new skills, which will ultimately allow people to enter or re-enter the world of employment.
More Information:
The funds main purpose is to break down barriers to learning, encouraging individuals who do not engage well with standard educational or training routes. This could be due to a lack of confidence, experience, finances, the structured approach of some formal routes or because the community simply has a lack of existing training / learning facilities or role models to aspire to.
Type of Project costs funded:
-
Capital (any items of equipment) but not building works
-
Revenue (any non-equipment costs) including ongoing running costs for a project or group
-
One off events and one-off projects
Priorities:
There are no specific priorities linked to this fund
Area:
The activity must benefit residents living in Derby City, South Derbyshire, Amber Valley or Erewash.
Amount:
The maximum grant is currently £2,000
Closing Dates:
There are no fixed closing dates.
Examples of grants made:
There are no examples of grants made to date as this fund is relatively new to Derbyshire Community Foundation. We envisage the fund may support training packages to help younger adults 18 upwards into educational / employment routes.
Projects which could help carers and parents back into the work environment.
Schemes that break down barriers to employment for individuals with learning difficulties or mental health issues.
It could also include offering skills to minority groups who may be experiencing difficulty in entering work.
These are simply theoretical ideas and do not constitute an exhaustive list.
