Grant Of The Month Awards
April 2008
The winner and Grant of the Month for April 2008 is PASTE (Poets & Storytellers)
They received grants totaling £11,104 from the Foundation in 2006/2007 to fund the set up of an after-school literacy club in 2007 in Derwent and continue the project into 2008.
Maria Morgan, volunteer for the group said “the Club’s not just about literacy, it’s about sharing ideas, developing social skills and learning to work as part of a group.”
Sarah Hand, Grants Manager for the Foundation, said “our panel, which is drawn from the local area, decided that this project appeared to have a unique and highly educational angle.”
PASTE aims to promote freedom of expression through both the written and spoken work and to encourage 'live' performance of completed work. They look to work both within and outside of mainstream education and adult groups to facilitate creative development through a 'chain of learning' where new skills are passed to new members.
